Mike-
Understand from reading through that you do graphics. I'd like to get an idea of what you can do for our 1986 2560 Trophy that we have named "Adventurer". Would like that name on the stern, with Seattle, WA as location. Also, this is one of those models with a blue hull, so was wondering what your thoughts were on white lettering. Finally, how do you apply the graphic?
Thanks,
Larry

Larry, welcome aboard... With a Blue hull, I would recommend Gold machine turned lettering. I think it would look nice on a blue hull... maybe with a white or light shadow? Anyway, Mike did mine and it turned out great. Real easy to apply with alcohol and soapy water but he provide more detail. I have a couple of photos showing my application here: (about half way down)... Go Aweigh To applying (http://www.bremertonnjrotc.com/goaweighext.htm)

Thanks for the links to the pics - helped me understand how the lettering was applied. Looks just a tad tricky to align the two layers for the outline/shadow effect.

Not really... using lots of soapy solution makes the sliding of the second and third layers easy. When Mike cuts them, they are a perfect fit as long as you don't stretch the plastic which is very tough stuff anyway. He uses a higher quality plastic backing then what BoatUS or West Marine does...

Windex works too. That's what we used to apply decals on race cars back in the late 80's early 90's

You don't want to use Windex. You want pure water with just the slightest mount of soap in it. If you shake the bottle and have just a slight amount of foam, you're golden. You're only using the soap to break the surface tension so the water will sheet under the graphic and not bead.
Windex (with alcohol or ammonia) will cause graphics to haze and in most cases not adhere as long as plain water.
There is a solution called "Frog Juice" that will help a great deal once installed, but plain water is your freind while installing. They make application fluids, but they're mostly deionized water and a surfactant of some sort.

The trouble is having time to do it. If you're not in a huge hurry, and I'm not too jugged up with work or school, I can help ya. :)
If time is a huge concern, please take it to Marshall Signs in Everett.
