As you've all probably noticed, I got the most recent version of vBulletin installed today.
It'll take some time to get the newer features all set up, but you'll be seeing the features and content show up over the next few days.
Lemme know what you think.

Definitely different! I'm sure we'll all adjust! It's working so that means the upgrade was successful!

It was sketchy... but it finally came around.
It is different, but the extra features will be well worth it. It has a really nice blog and album setup built right in. And much more.

Looks good Mike
I'm sure we'll gety used to it but you know how it is? Some may not like it until they get used to the new look, where everything is and how it all works.

Thanks Todd;
It's got many nice new features and handles attachments and videos and such better. I think it'll be nice once everyone gets the hang of it.
One of them is the ability to embed videos:

Mike, there were two cookies for ibnw (1) and (2). I deleted them and it let me logon and stay on.
For any others......

Thanks Tally.
I figured it was something along those lines. They did change the way the cookies are stored. Supposed to be more secure.
Still trying to get the CMS system to work a little better, but it's getting there.
You can login OK now?

yeah, seems I have to log in more frequently...
SomeSailor

You should just have to login the one time and tell it to remember you. The old cookies may need to expire or be cleared out from the old software. They might be conflicting with each other.

Mike--Good job. I like the new looks, however if you are able to adjust font size, can you increase the size of the writer's name?? It would be easier for me and probably others, to see names in larger fonts. Your name "SomeSailor" is almost the same size as "Supporting Member."

I'm all for a larger font as well. The reply font while typing is even smaller...

I'll take a look at it. I'm not sure if you fellow old guys knew this trick, but if you come across a website that's a little slight of vision. Hold down your "Ctrl" key while scrolling your mouse wheel up and down. This will zoom the browser in and out. I find myself using it more and more these days. :) You can also use the "Ctrl" and "+" or "-" keys from the keyboard to accomplish the same thing.
I'll take a look at it though. I'm sure it's adjustable somewhere.

Thanks Mike. I didn't know about the "Ctrl" and mouse wheel. Great tip.

At first it was curiosity... but I use it all the time now. Especially nice when looking at maps and pictures you wanna zoom in on.

"ctrl" and glide pad don't work as a mouse would for me... I have used "ctrl +/-" and that works as does "view" and "'zoom" but I'd rather have a larger "default" font... or at least the ability to select my own...
The resolution I keep my computer at makes for really small print anyway...

I'm not able to access the home page. When I click to go there, I get a message that I don't have permission. I cleared my cookies and logged out and logged in again, but still cannot access the home page.... Any ideas?

You may need to restart your computer but since you already tried to log on again, I would look specifically for the iboatnw cookie to delete it before rebooting your computer. Then you should be good to go...

Same here when I hit HOME (can not go here) but when I click on Bulletin, it takes me to the home page.

I cleared two iboatnw cookies, logged out, logged in, restarted... Still cannot access the home page when I am logged in. When I log out, I can..
I'm inclined to think it is a user permission issue.

What is this "Bulletin" button you're hitting? I'm not making the mental connection here. Home works fine on mine. It may "look" like you've gone nowhere, but it's the front end of the CMS section.

I think he's referring to the "Bulletin" in the header. When I click that, I go to the forums home page.
If I click home, or point my browser to www.iboatnw.com , I get a message that says I do not have permission to access that area. The only links I see at the header when I'm logged in are "Home", "Forum", "Blogs", and "What's New". When I log out, I am able to access the index page, and additional links (gallery, BOC, etc) show up...

OK. I increased the font size a bit. Does that help?

This is the message I get:
vBulletin Message
tolly28, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
1.Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2.If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

I see... That just takes you straight to the same place the forum button does. I wasn't aware that was even a link (it's the vBulletin logo). Are you saying you can't get to the forum? If so, you wouldn't be able to read this post.

I found the only way to get in at all is to use " inprivate browsing ".
Its the strangest thing. Canucks must need to be incognito :)
Using IE 8 on a Vista 64 . I did delete IE8 and had no trouble with IE7, but hate not having the tabs and reloaded 8
Thought restalling might fix it. Even deleted all the cookies, saved passwords etc as Doug had suggested

Now I can see the homepage, but I don't see any links... Strange....
It's the same on multiple computers and my iPhone, which leads me to think it is a permission issue.

I might have to delete your account and start fresh. Something is out of synch. There are no permissions or restrictions to read the homepage or 90% of the main forum.

Mike, is it possible to seperate the tabs equally across the banner in forums for "new posts, private mess, faq, etc"? It is hard with my sausage fingers to navigate the choices with my mobile app.

I've actually got a "mobile" style that I was gonna install. You wanna try it? It's the same content, but laid out in a more mobile-friendly format.
