Found this on Netflix.
It's more fun than Deadliest Catch.
Check it out.

I've watched it in the past, but they seem pretty stupid. :)

I remember once they sent a dinghy to attack a Japanese boat and he got lost in the rain and darkness... and ran out of gas.

I thought it was rather dumb to glorify law breakers.

Like any other fish/mammal, as long as it is not over fished, go for it... If it is over fished, stop the fishing until whales come back to acceptable levels. I dislike these "terrorists" of the seas who feel they are OK to break the law based on outcome...

so I shouldn't throw butaric acid at those that get within the 100 yards of the Orca off San Juan island?

The problem is that Japan is whaling in an internationally defined whale sanctuary. I'd have no problem if Japan was whaling in the open ocean where whaling was acceptable. But for them to knowingly pursue the whales in a sanctuary is just wrong.

I don't like the Sea Shepard's tactics either, but at this point there is no country doing anything to alter Japan's whaling.

Idiots. That looks like the BioDiesel boat that went around the world last year. If it is, it's a real expensive battering ram that appears to be heading to the deep now.

I watched both seasons on the boob tube. I know that all these people are volunteers but, I can't believe that they can't find at least a few qualified deck hands or at least spend a month training before heading out. Most of their mishaps are self inflected.
BTW if you didn't know they are headquartered in FH.

Funny, Lea says "kill em!" (the green peacers that is)... LOL

Obviously the green peacers actually crashed into the whaler... How stupid can you get???

Last summer while in FH my son and DIL saw a new, black, big-arse pickup with Sea Shepard or Sea Shepard Society painted on the side. I think my granddog peed on one of the tires.

Yeah, who cares if the Japanese are also doing illegal activites. Pretty stupid when people rather see young men and women get hurt for what they believe in, and rather root for the people who profit off of illegal whale hunting.

Hmmm !
I wonder what Rain X and The Sea Shepard have in common. ?

The International Whaling Commission banned commercial whaling in 1986 but allows Japan to conduct "lethal research" into the cetaceans' migratory and breeding habits.

LIke I said. Idiots. They powered right into the whaler. The Biodiesel vessel was a cool idea. I followed the story of the vessel. Not sure but I would suspect it is a total loss. Well I guess they got their two million dollar investment covered with all the media attention this will bring. Very possible this was a planned event to bring media attention to their cause. I still say IDIOTS!

Nah, I'm done... ;) I don't do postal... nor "PP BOC" though I do get a kick out of all of the crying. I think it is very fortunate most of us know each other by face and keep our conversations civil. Once the "pot" is stirred, I never see it get out of hand... So, If I offended anyone with my wise arse remarks, it was just that... a wise arse remark... put that one in the dirty seven list Mike... :)

"Sea Shepherd" is nothing more than a vigilante group with a TV show. I read recently that both Australia and Greenpeace would no longer give them coordinates of the Japanese fishing vessels, and that one of the Sea Shepherd mother ships was being trailed by a Japanese Trawler!

I've been following and commenting on another much more volatile thread on one of my local fishing boards about this subject.

I don't condone the specific actions of either the Japanese Whalers or the SS. The Japanese can not be trusted to self regulate. Look at what they've done to the Bluefin tuna population. The Japanese are clearly breaking the law and there is no enforcement agency in place to do anything about it. Therefore, I consider the SS a lessor of evils. They may be idiots but they are the best thing going for the cause at this time. Just for clarity, they are not associated with Greenpeace in any way. Greenpeace has directed their attention towards working to change the culture that makes the whales so valuable. They aren't doing a very good job it.

Anyway, SS have done what they set out to do. They have us talking! ;)
