OK... So there has been a lot of discussion about the new software and the features that this version has that is different than the last. These are just a few of the variations, but I hope this answers a few questions.
I'm not trying to overly complicate things, but some folks have been contributors from the beginning and others help to keep this place going and civil. I appreciate that, and this setup allows some control over spammers, email crawlers, porn sites, viagra salesmen and others. It also allows the forum to be self-sustaining and not a personal expense of mine. These are just a few of the variations, but I hope this answers a few questions. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or ideas to improve this or if you feel like your access is incorrect.

Guest User: (Lifted Banned Users)
Free to view anything on the forum at large
Asked to register after viewing 100 posts
Forced to register after viewing 500 post or 1 year as guest
Cannot post, poke or prod (or tell you you've won the Nigerian Lottery)
Cannot PM users or view Member List
Cannot view member profiles
Limited access to some areas
Google Ads
Registered User:
All of the above plus;
Ability to post
Ability to PM other users
Additional features such as 'Search', 'Todays Posts', some additional features in forum
Access to Blogs
Access to Gallery
Verified User (has made greater than 10 posts with no infractions):
All of the above plus;
No Ads
Can post pictures or links to images
Can award reputation points
Can embed videos
Can comment on Blogs
Can view Calendar and events
Can post URLs (Links) to other sites or other documents
Can start / vote in polls
Ability to email other users (if set to yes in member's preferences)
Profile picture, avatar, custom signature, and some other profile settings are enabled
Can view member profiles (some info still restricted)
Admiral (Some lucky guy's better half)
Access to 'Admiral's Forum'
Club Member (Has attended some function or is a local cruiser):
All of the above plus;
Personal Album
Access to iBoatNW Club Area (crawler blocked)
Access to some local content (crawler blocked)
Personal Blog (crawler blocked)
Can ADD Calendar Events
Supporting Club Member (Donations support costs of forum / events):
All of the above plus;
Personal Album (unlimited storage)
Personal Web Page
Unlimited PM storage
iBoatNW email account
Voting Rights in Club Matters
Added to Annual Club Roster / Registry (printed copy)
Full access to member additional features as they are added
Additionally;
There are a number of folks who have stepped up as Moderators.
Moderators help keep things in check and can:
Ban Users (temporary)
Add Infractions (Spam advertisements, Insulting Another Member, Signature Rule Violation, Inappropriate Language, Other)
Edit / Delete Posts
Open / Close Threads
