Well I am 1 day away from not working for the next 2-1/2 months and am starting some serious planning for a 4 to 5 week trip to the San Juans and Gulf islands...yee-hah!

Here is the first question: does anyone have a pasture or large vacant lot that is close to a launch that is close to the above mentioned crusing grounds that is willing to have a truck and trailer sitting there and only requires either nothing, beer or a nominal fee? ( hows that for a long question?)

Q-2 Seems I heard that parking is free at bellingham but I could be mistaken about that so can anyone verify?

Who is floating around where during that time? I am leaving myself very flexible with the only paramaeter being not having long round trip runs. reason for that is fuel in this beast is about a gal per mile. (I am going to copy this paragraph to the Cruise Schedule so if you have an answer to just this part please jump over there) :D

well..one option is to contact dagmars landing and they will provide a slot/pwr/water and security while you leave your boat to rest..then pick it up and stick it in the water at the drop of a dime....or is it 50 cents now for a phone call :?
we'll be floating around the sound most of the summer though..... :argh

Port of Everett is even cheaper. You pay for weekends and they have a monthly fee as well. Costs next to nothing to leave a truck & trailer there. I'll letcha park it at Steve's place for a nominal fee. :)

Heck... Bob's (Wenjammin) got 5 acres... and he's out for the weekend... bring it on up... I take cash only though :)

nope...can't come to my house...home owners assoc. won't let you park a trailer in the drive without having a fit....but you got plenty of room mike!!

Home owners assoc. been there done that.
We brought home our small boat to get it ready for the season, not in our driveway for even a week and some busy body neighborhood old crow left a note on the boat!
We all know who she is. So she had her house painted last year and after a few beers, me and my next door neighbor sent her letter using the assoc letter head saying she didn't get the house color approved and it's needs to be repainted to an approved color.

That was last week- I would love to see the painters out there again!

Don't worry about it... Steve's gonna be leaving Friday... I figure we get it in there in the afternoon... :)

You'd be welcome to park it here, but I brought the little Carver up out of holding in the back yard, up to where the 2355 was, and it's on blocks, so no room at the inn here. :) I have a covered fenced in area beside the house to store up to 40', but it's all full of bare wood Carver boat now.

I'd check with the Port Of Everett. I know they have reasonable trailer storage there as well.

Thanks to those who have so generously offered someone elses house, yard or whatever. It's a great example of what a tight community we gots goin here....

I did find out that Bellingham does allow long-term free parking, so that saves me $150 or so. And judging from the BC marine disaster, the latest news tells me not to go to the bank or a fairy will come and rear-end me, and I'm not up for that. ( I thought that stuff was only in San Francisco)

y'all have fun at Friday Harbor..... :argh :glasses10:

Just out of curiousity, why ya going all the way up to Bellingham? Another place you could jump might be from Anacortes as well?

Bellingham looks like a nice place to visit ....nice article in the SEA mag so a visit would be warranted. Further, I intend to be going to Pender and than on to the Canadian gulf then back to Vancouver BC, Indian Arm and back to the trailer....so it seems that Bellingham makes sense.

I did Anacortes last year..went out of Sunset park, which is a nice park and ramp, especially for a jump to SJ s The parkng was fairly secure with a live in the park ranger near by. The only rub there is $5 a day over a month is $150 is a half a tank of fuel, and the fuel to do a Round trip north from there is not insignificant.....(anyone reading: the launch at Sunset with a 2855 was about as big as I think you want to get but was not a problem..narrow roads and trees...and needs a middle tide or better to not be worrysome).

So, thats why B is high on the list, at least at this moment..... :D

Have you looked at Cap Sante for launch and parking? I'm not sure what their long-term parking costs...

I recall writing them out of the deal last year....the sling was about $75 each way ...that alone is a deal breaker for me, especially since I can launch and retreive at most any ramp.. and I'm sure parking ain't free either....

Parking at Cap Sante (Port of Anacortes public lots) costs $3.00 per night, PU and boat trailer. The parking limit is supposed to be 72 hours, however we just left our PU and trailer there for 9 nights and paid the regular fee. We slung in our 26' Carver for $35.00 round trip. Our boat is the max length they like to sling in. Otherwise, it's the expensive travel-lift.
