Anyone else going? We have tickets to a hockey game this Friday but my kids really wanted to see the Torch first hand. What the kids want they get, so we hopped in the car yesterday and headed north. No wait at the border, free parking and skytrain ride to downtown.

Bring your walking shoes as the country pavilions are spread out. Bring binoculars to see the Torch up close as they have it fenced off. Many complaints about that so they are going to see if they can rework it.

We stood in line to get into the Canadian pavillion. As we came out of one of the displays the mens moguls were on. Guess the second best place to be other than at the ski hill was there when the Canadian won the first gold medal on Canadian soil.

Everything is free to see in Vancouver.

Cool. It's terrible that the disasterous weather is really making the events so gloomy on TV. There are no wide angle shots of the skiing venues to hide the embarrasment of no snow. It's a tragedy. If this was last year they would have been able to showcase the most beautiful winter apline venue ever. They have more snow at the White House. I feel bad for them. BC is such a beautiful place. I just wish they had snow for all of this.

Sounds like the trip you took Sean was great though. See the village in Vancouver and all of the fanfare in Vancouver.

I saw that due to the rain, they have removed 4000 standing room only spots for the downhill today.

Where did you park, and what transit did you take? Did you just go downtown? Can you just tour the pavilions? I looked at the map and they do not make it easy to identify what the general public can see and do without tickets. Everything seems to be geared to ticket holders.

I took 99 right up to 49th and turned right and found parking. The Langura & 49th stop of the Canada line is right there. We had to squeeze onto the train there as they are coming from Richmond where the speed skating oval is. The ride back was no problem. Street parking abundant around the stop or there is the Langura Hub parking east of the stop where they are bussing people up to Whistler and Cypress. Get off at the Vancouver City Center stop and you are in the heart of town.

There are informational kiosks but you can look on the Vancouver2010 site and the "Live Sites" are where a lot of action is along with the pavillions. There are lines and they are spread out. All these are free.

Read today that they are going to rework the chain link around the torch to make it more eye appealing.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
