Well this is going to throw a HUGE crimp into the Canada Day Long Weekend. BC Ferries' Queen of Oak Bay lost power while coming in to dock, and plowed right through the middle of Sewell's Marina. That's where Kuredu used to keep his boat. This is a big ferry, and the TV coverage shows devastating damage.
Hopefully this link works....

One of the guys with a 2004 meridian 381 from the BOC lost his boat. There is the link to the story on BOC. He was fully loaded and heading out for 3 weeks with family.

Not me man... I'd be thinkin.... SINK IT... Here comes my NEW boat :)
I'd also be thinking the ferry would be paying a pretty heavy settlement. :)

No kidding on the settlement and I heard they just spent 13 mil on her repairs/refit. Talk about a ROI

Hello everyone. Thank you for your concern and support. I posted a full story on the BOC but if you cannot get to it I'll re-post here.
It is a miracle no-one was hurt. Kuredu was damaged and we're not yet sure what that means. The surveyor will be around on Monday and then we'll know.
Thanks again.

Glad you and your family are safe Etienne. That the main thing. Sorry to hear about the loss of your vacation though. Hopefully there'll be some compensation for that before this is all done.

I am so very, very sorry to hear of your loss, Etienne! I'm very happy no one was hurt. However, to lose a precious 3 weeks vacation and your boat for the summer is a tough one.
Best of lucking in getting things worked out, buddy.

I doubt the ferry corp will be interested in my lost vacation :? This would have been the first time in 9 years that the admiral and I would have been away for more than 4 days together! It really sucks, but we'll do other stuff instead.
Right now my worry is that our situation is restored to what it was before the accident and looking at Kuredu my laymans eye seems to think she cannot be repaired without some future ramifications. I will be asking for a replacement. We'll have to wait and see how co-operative the ferry corp is going to be.

I heard about this on vacation, sorry to hear about your boat. Amazing somebody was not hurt. Just hope everyone gets treated fairly in the settlement.
