I know I read this in one of the other post but I do not have the patience to re read all of them so hopefully you guys will take pity on me and repost it? Can I use my US equipment in Canada? are the floats the same color? pots the same? Or do I need to go on line and order some new stuff now?
The Waggoners guide says Otter Bay is one of the best crabbing areas around? But what about shrimp and prawns?

Canadian pots have a smaller mesh (5/8") than US pots (7/8") have so your US pots are fine to use in CA. You can use the 5/8" mesh in some areas of the Puget Sound after 1 June or is it July? Floats are also the same... yellow... I have yet to shrimp in CA so someone else will have to respond on that.

Any size US pots are OK in Canada. The 1" mesh required in Washington to take spot prawns when they are open (1st Saturday in May) and then you can use either. The 1" pots are the best to carry if you're not going to be targeting bay shrimp (too small for my tastes anyhow).

Figured this was the best place to post this... Finally got on the boat today and brought my new shrimp pot puller to check it out. Got it on the Canon downrigger pad and all set up and the plug wire is 1-2"'s too short to reach the receptacle... I did check after taking it off the pad that the motor works and winds the correct way. So I need to buy a foot of proper cord, correct shrink tube and I'll be all set. At least I did not find this out on May 1st...

What pot puller are you using, and where are you planning on shrimping?

I got the Brutus Ace pot hauler and plan to go off Bainbridge Island (Kingston area) with a friend who also has a 2452 and the same pot hauler. So if you see two identical 2452's, that'll be us... He goes out every year to this area and max's out... So I see no need to go to Hood canal and have fun with every boater in the PNW...

I did great last year right Camano Head. Anywhere you can find 250-300 of water and a steep wall and shelf you should be fine. Lots of shrimps out there.
