Picked up a new tool / toy last last night. Pretty cool gizmo that'll compliment the embroidery machine nicely. Now if I can keep my fingers out of it.

Dad had two of these Pfaff before he died. I got all of his upholstry tools, except for those. I wish I had kept one.

It's pretty cool. It was late by the time I got it unloaded, so didn't get any time to play with it, but it's neat. It's slows down to a snail's pace which is gonna be helpful.

Dunno. Probably a cover for the BBQ and a shower curtain for the head.

How about a cover for your windlass and covers for your scotty's?

Nice, I have been wanting one of those for a while. You will love the walking foot action. I have used a freinds walking foot and it made doing leather easy.
I do leather work as a hobby. Got into it when the Admiral and I were into Renaissance Reenactment. Before you could go and buy costumes we use to make our own from our own patterns for us and other people. Patti made the fabric clothing and I did the leather clothing, belts, scabbards and other accessories. I even made my own Rapier and Main Gauche. The Admiral has been talking about getting back into making the costumes and selling them on the net. Maybe I might start on the leather again too after we make the move, at least as a hobby.

Nice demo, however the paper folding demo was much better!

That piece of leather in the video is the thickness of a strong leather belt (3/16" or so) it sews it without even hesitation. Pretty cool. I need to order some smaller needles before doing anything but playing though. Tons of cool ideas on what to do with it. This one is in great shape. Original manual, lots of spares and that digital servo motor control makes it so controllable. Between this and the embroidery machine, its gonna be fun making canvas accessories for the boat.

I had a couple of pfaff's in my upholstery shop in the early seventy's,.......... when vans and magic mushrooms were big. lol
At that time they were the most robust machines. I used the older one to stitch directly through 1/8" panelling.
Did you get the welting foot as well?

Did you get the welting foot as well?
Yep. It has both a single and double welting foot. This one is an H-model which has unison feed (compound Walking Foot And Needle Feed) that allows for REALLY thick sewing. In the video you can see where both feet and the needle itself are actually feeding along. It's near effortless to sew with. I ordered a bunch of Sunbrella, binding tape, needles and threads. :)
My boat will be wrapped in Sunbrella before ya know it. :)

Sounds like you got a great machine there. May be dangerous to stand still for too long around you for awhile. May end up covered in Sunbrella.

I've got some cool tools for sure. Now if I were only retired and could play with them all. :)

I know what you mean. Mine have become barried in the garage. One good thing about this move is that I will be getting rid of a bunch of stuff that I never use.
What type of laser are you using on the dashes you make. I was looking at the one that Craftsman came out with a while back. There are just too many toys and not enough time.

That's a cool one for sure... I am using the old (70-s?) Kenmore machine, very solid and simple, did great job of restitching through Sunbrella and vinyl for my top. My only complain is about how much fabrics I can stuff in the space between the leg and the base... gets tricky when you do something like a boat cover.

This one is a hi-lift and leading needle model. The foot raises 9/16" so you could stuff a half inch in there if you wanted. The leading needle is nice becase it moves with the leading foot backwards, and then stiches on the next step.

We had an old Kenmore modified so it would accept heavier material. Worked pretty good for redoing our canvas on the sail boat. Broke a lot of needles and the motor finally burned itself out from the heavy load.
Walking foot is the best way to go. The one with the double walking feet like you got is the top. Keeps good pressure at all times.

I never thought we'd be talking about sewing on this site.
Nice machine. I'm sure it give you a new appreciation for the ones that stitched up your new canvas?

Actually it's the exact same machine. Never had any doubts about what it takes to do his caliber of work. I actually asked Troy what his thoughts were about it, and he says these old Pfaffs are workhorses and just sew and sew. I was playing around sewing some leather bits tonight. Pretty fun.
