It's time to get a 'real' snap setter tool......tired of the dealing with the cheap stuff that doesn't hold up.

Some say that the Press-N-Snap tool is the way to go. More expensive than most, but the best tool to own. The kit also come with the grommet die which is a plus.

Anyone have an opinion here.....used this tool or something better?

That is a very nice tool. I have my tools from my leather working days and they work great for canvas.

Yeah, it looks like a good one. I just wanted to get some feedback before I spend over a boat buck for this tool. There are many cheaper models that some folks say are just as good.

I have that same one. Rochford has the best deal around on snaps and dies too. I have all the dies now except the largest grommet set. You can also save a few bucks on shipping if you call and make the order over the phone. The shipping adds up on individual pieces different that way.

Ask to have them toss in their catalog as well. They sell all sorts of upholstery and canvas stuff. Neat folks. Perfect Fit also has good prices as well, but Rochford has beaten them so far from my experience.

I have a tendency to purchase high grade tools that would be used by someone making a living at it everyday. The tools last for every but sometimes I over purchase as I don't really use them enough to justify the additional expense. Still I know that they are built to last and I can count on them when I do need them.
With the leather stuff, you end up using them more often that you would think so good quality is a good buy. i usually don't go with mechanized tools as I don't need to do hole punching and snap setting in a hurry to make a buck, but i do want the tool to last so I buy heavy duty slower tools.

I think we're on the same page here. I learned my lesson by purchasing the el cheapo WM snap tool that didn't apply enough pressure, at least in the right places, to keep the snaps seated for long. Seems like a useful tool that I will use for a couple decades so I want a good one.

Received the Press-n-Snap setter tool from rochfordsupply last Friday. What a great tool! I replaced a few snaps and tested out the grommet dies over the weekend......really impressed.

Brian, that's good to hear. It's been hard to find a good snap tool.

That's the one to get too. Tony had one when he built my top and it went to the top of my "gotta get one of those" list.

I need to get some larger grommet dies for mine though.
