for my new trailer arriving soon. I found this:
http://www.boatus-store.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=20002&langId=-1&catalogId=20002&productId=58889

It will be for my 6200# boat... Any thoughts or other suggestions as to where to look?

I also found this one and it is way below list ($499)...

I watched e-bay until the right winch came up. I got a new "Powerwinch 912" winch rated for boats up to 11,500 lbs for $281 including shipping. It works great and saves me a lot of effort at the boat ramp.

Well, I went to Boatfix and found the powerwinch RC30 for $338 and got it shipped over night for an additional $9. Now I need the new trailer to get here.

Weird, but I found two prices from Boatfix. One for $449 and the other $338 depending on how I did a google search. I also did not expect to get overnight shipping for $9 but did. They say on their website that they will absorb any overage on shipping or call to discuss. They did not call and I got it at 1:46PM today (ordered it from New Jersey 8AM the day before). Now that is service with a capital "S"...

When I first got the boat, the trailer came with the standard manual winch and I broke it the first time I pulled the boat. I bought a powerwinch that evening. It has been a great investment and refuse to not have one.

So, anyone wanting a manual winch (never used)... email me and will take good care of you... Of course, gotta wait for the trailer delivery and I will be gone till 25 July starting next Monday...

You gonna run power back to the rear bumper of your truck then? I used to work for a guy as a kid that did that. He ran 4/0 welding cable along the frame in clamps and terminated it with welding cable twist-lok plug right through a 3/4" hole in the bumper.

The coolest part was if he needed to jumpstart something, he had cables that plugged in and he would just back up to ya. Very slick setup. I always thought it would be neat on a boat at you could do a similar thing on a boat and power your fridge and such while going down the road. I guess you could mount a battery like some do as well?

I pulled 0 or 00 wire from a battery along the frame to the rear bumper and attached to a 30 amp circuit breaker. Works great. My electric winch hasn't tripped once while winching on my boat. I always have the truck idling while I operate the winch.

He guys, I have a Ford F350 with all the goodies including dual power recepticals at the bumper...

Speaking of Fords (here we go again). Went in to get one of my rear bumper warning beepers replaced and saw the comparison between Ford trucks, Tundra, Silverado and Ram... Boy you guys got short changed... For instance, only Ford has intergrated metal all around the engine to hang the radiator and fenders (Double walled unlike the others). Chevy only has the fenders and once they are removed, everything on the front end fall to the ground. The Ford frame is 1.5 times wider and a solid oval shaped, the others are boxed but not completely... they are open on one side... Tundra is actually almost looks like a "C", its that open.

The doors are the big give away for strength howver. They opened each door to its max and then pushed out some more. Only Ford did not flex the pillar frame. The gearing going back to the differential was also massive size wise compared to the others... Lots more too. But I don't want to "bore" you guys with the non-Fords...

Hey Mike, if you are interested in an extended warranty for your beast, I found a good company that the mechanic can work directly with (without you getting involved with the paperwork, etc). Got same as Ford new warranty... bumper to bumper 60 more months, or 100k more for $2200 with zero deductible. It even covers my turbo, 4x4 and diesel... (Mercury Gold). go here for the quote: http://www.autowarrantybroker.com/ BTW, they do not visually check your mileage when you sign up but if you are over your warranty coverage, they will hit you with higher quotes... I'm still under Ford warranty so I am OK.. but they pick up after that expires.

PS I was able to deal them down an additional $200 from the posted quotes... just had to call them to discuss and they were very easy to deal. BTW, Ford dealer charges $4k for the same extended warranty... what a mark up!!!!

I'd be fine on the warranty. Cummins covers the motor to 150,000 and I paid a couple hundred more when I bought the truck to take it out to 150,00 as well. :)

Besides... Dodges don't break :)

ONly had mine in once... and that because I broke the right side mirror...
