Ron Sims wants to convert the parking lot next to Qwest Field into a housing development. Huh? Why would anybody want to live next to the stadium?

Oh, wait.

the stadium area is a "busy and noisy place," said Mike Kalian, managing director of the Seattle Home Show. "Why would you want to live there?"
You wouldn't. But since when has Ron "bank-accurate elections" Sims let reality interfere with his schemes?
Sims wants the tens of thousands of people who walk by the lot on their way to Mariners and Seahawks games to imagine a neighborhood that adds a "throbbing heartbeat" to Pioneer Square.

"I want to make a significant statement like the downtown library. I want something that has a wow factor to it. Something that makes people pull out their cameras," he said.

Yes, people will take pictures all right, to show their friends and go "Wow. Whoever put those houses there has to be the world's biggest idiot".

Hey I would like to be able to make the equity off that one. a friend of mine bought right across from the old King Dome when it was there. ( Condo) for $ 185,000. Him and his wife just sold it for a mere $ 575,000. They got to watch both new stadiums being build, they were moved out for the implosion of the dome , they suffered very little damage during the Nasqually quake. Not bad for an old warehouse converted into housing to help rejuvinate the Pioneer square area. Problem is most of the bums and transients made there way into this district.
My wife and I used to save up and get sleeping bags, pillows blankets etc and then hand them out on Christmas day at the square, my buddy said I was promoting the bums to stay in his neighborhood

You guys should do a search of real estate cost for the area there , you would be surprised at how much it cost to live there. I am not a Sims fan, but the more good people you put into a neighbor hood the more clout it has and the rift raft is run out.

Bradvo, glad you are helping out the homeless there. We do two Pioneer Square "taking to the streets" every year to feed and clothe them. Last time we handed out over 300 sandwiches and a truck load of sweaters, jackets, sneakers and shoes...
