Ok you old IBNW'ers do you think Jaruba could still be alive after all these years of just sitting?
Well today I got a wild hair and decided to find out since the plan is to take her out, yes I said out!
So I got the scrub brush out and brushed all the scum off the water line, yucky. Then checked to make sure the fluids were at least safe to start her.
Well with a little coaxing she fired right up! I then slipped the lines off and took her out for a hot lap.........same old Jaruba even if she is 30 years old!!
Gonna take her to the lake to kill all the saltwater growth stuff, wish me luck that I make it back! :)

Congrats on the rebirth of your boat. How long has it been since you last used her?

Over a year other than to the gas dock and back in my marina.

She made the round trip in typical flawless Jaruba fashion, and back in her slip safe and sound!

I almost forgot to tell you guys. While heading South on Lake Union I looked ahead and saw a small orange boat heading my way, then he turned his blue lights on and pulled along side. He asked me if I had a safety inspection in the last six months, of course the answer was no. So three guys with guns on, boarded my lil boat and started the inspection. The good thing was they did not stop my heading to the locks and kept about a 6mph cruise. Of course I passed with flying colors and only was told to have the throwable cushion more handy.
So guys what did I learn, my yellow inspection form is like gold for 6 months, if anyone now stops me I show it to them and they keep going. I also learned that a courtesy inspection sticker for 2010 means nothing to them, they will still stop you. And if you are super nice to these guys they might forget to check your flares, which I had many of and were all expired. Oh ya one more thing if you paid for your tabs and forget to put the registration in the boat they get a lil cranky, but my tabs were current so they let it go after seeing years and years of other ones on board.
We later saw them in the locks and they jokingly asked if me if I had been inspected in the last six months.

My tabs are not due until the end of June? I thought they all expired at the same time for boats? Are yours different? Or are they expecting people to buy them early? I am not going to buy them until they are due and I really don't care what the coasties want to say about it.

Ted, you are much prettier in pictures than in real life, at least in your avitar.

I made the same assumption. It sounded like you had paid for them, but not on the boat yet. I had to re-read it to understand you meant the registration paper was not aboard, but the decal was affixed from this year.

That is the truth. When I worked on the water and was driving high speed oil spill response boats it was someone elses money and a blast. Use to think how great it would be to do that with my own boat. Then I got one and the fuel bill took some of the fun out of it. Well maybe a lot of the fun.

Jaruba was on TV, I just watched the FSN replay of the crew races. It you watch the final race, which was the Mens Windermere Race the camera follows the shell down the logboom until.........yup there she is a 3 second shot of the back of my boat!
If you care to see the final re-run it will be shown Thursday from 3:30 to 4:30 on FSN or 30. My boat pic is in the last 15 minutes.
