Has anyone herd what our crabbing rules are going to be this year? I have herd or I should say I herd a rumor that we might only get to crab during week Days?

Nothing official until the reg's are printed in late April, but still subject to change so watch the WDF&W web-site for closures. Most closures are posted weekly but sometimes daily.
Just a reminder... I was down picking up some gear at our local shop... 2005 licenses are in effect tomorrow... :(
$55.00 to Granny Gregoire...

I have been watching the web site and no info, I have just herd so many Rumor's on the season and thought we would get some idea by today's date. I had herd the crabbing would be allowed only during the week days, has anyone else herd this? I also know that rumor's probably run from one side to the other, but this is the one which I have herd on a consistant basis.

The big deal in crabs here in the Northeast is the "Blue Shell Crab".
Out your way, do you get the "Alaskan King Crab" in your area ?
The wife likes them, but out this way, they are expensive
In some Seafood stores, you pay up to $19.00 pound for the legs
fresh, and if you want frozen, about $16.00 a pound ....
Here's a hint for ya Al... There's no such thing as "fresh" King or Snow Crab.
A friend of mine works the crab fishery out of Dutch Harbor and they process everything as it hits the docks. Even the stuff they sell as "fresh" doesn't mean it wasn't previously frozen. He said they're even doing the same to Salmon. They freeze it whole... send it to the lower 48 whole (guts and all) and then it's cleaned as its thawed.
He sends me 20 lbs or so every time he comes back... hmmm good :)
We get Dungeoness crabs here. They'll average 6.25" - 9" across and weigh 3-4 pounds each I'd guess?

Are we ever going to hear anything from the WDFW about the dungees? The Wife wants to know when she can expect crab cakes.

I understand the last hearing for recreational crabbing in Puget Sound is set for May 14 at 9am at the Tyee Resturant in Tumwater.
If you want to get in your 2 cents worth about the upcoming regulations...this is the time and place.

Tim; did you sell your boat yet?

No, I haven't sold it yet....only ad I've done so far is a notice in IBNW.
I'm thinking of putting an ad in the Boat Trader, or maybe put it on consignment somewhere.
I am looking for a O/B fishing boat. About 19' (maybe an Arima). I find myself doing more fishing and crabbing and less overnighting.
Howabout you...have you sold your boat yet? Wow, those were some really nice pics you posted and the price seems "right on".
Tim
yep... it's on Lake Washington somewhere :)
Put an ad on Boat Trader and one in Craig's List. Got good responses with both. It sold in the second week without too much hassle.

The regs are on the website now: http://wdfw.wa.gov/fish/regs/2005/2005sportregs.pdf
Page 132 says that opening dates are dependent on molting and to check back after June 1st.

Anyone out there that is a "crabber" should consider attending the hearing on crab regulations May 14. They are talking restricting the number of days for recreational crabbers(down as low as 2 days a week)....among other things.

Well, when I get hungry for crab and cannot crab myself, I'll make a run to the Bell Marina and pick up as many as I want for $5 each. They got some good size crabs too!
