Ya I talked to that rascal and he swears he's done for good this time, I told him I'd see him here in the fall. Speaking of rascals did you talk to Tally at FH, and if so what was his comments about coming back? Ted :D

ps. there you go I hi-jacked my own thread!

I split the thread so we don't wander too off track.

I did see Tally while there... and Harry and Matt and Mike. Was sure nice seeing them again as it had been some time.

But... that being said, there was a lot of tension in the air and beyond the cordiality of a quick visit, nothing much was done to mend any fences. It'd be nice if everyone just saw this as a website, and not the place where friendships are made or lost... but that's just not the case. There's just so much political posturing that goes on. People are judgmental and downright mean-spirited in many respects. I felt pretty odd being there in Friday Harbor, especially without a boat to retreat to. I caught some very unusal attitudes from some very unexpected places.

I do miss having Gene here though. He's a very sharp guy and quite the resource for both advice and conversation. I hope he'll be back around when things slow down a bit. He's one of the more genuine people I've met on here.

I guess I've grown tired of this whole sort of thing really. IBoatNW.com has been a fun project for me and a great time-waster. I don't need the extra grief... life's just too short. If someone announces once more that "they're leaving or else" ... well... don't let the door hit ya on the ass on the way out is my best advice.

Very well put SS, and good advice as well! I know I'm quilty of getting into others skin at times, and for that I will say here..........sorry about that just my rough side getting ahead of my fun side and I'll try to keep the fun in the lead from now on!
Mike don't give up the farm here you have done a good job most of the time  , and for the computer clueless such as I am, thank-you for your daily attention!
The rest of you happy boating!

Ted :D

Just hosted the WA State Naval Academy Parents Club at our house today for a barbeque. About 30 folks. Last Sunday we had 55 friends and family over for a barbeque. That's a lot of dogs and burgers, my friends. I'm sick of grilling.

What does this have to do with this thread? Two things:

1. Everyone has issues with someone else or something else. Ya can't make everyone happy. Ya jest have ta do your best and let the chips fall where they may. You're doing a great job, Mike. A job that I couldn't do, that's for sure.

Quitting is easy. Hanging around and helping your fellow boater out on a great site like this one even when you don't agree with everyone, and, may in fact, dislike some, takes maturity and patience. Some have it, some don't. You can't run the site for the minority. Ya just gotta hang in there. No one is indispensable. When one leaves another one (or two) will show up. They may just be more knowlegable than the one that left too.

2. The second thing is that I'm sick of company and sick of standing behind a smoky grill and eating some cheap Costco burger all the while trying to make other people happy. It's time to go BOATIN'!!

I'll see you folks on the water. Mike, anytime ya want to go cruising give me a call, it would be an honor to host you on KT. (Just don't ask for a friggin' burger, though.) (Or to go fishin'...they got every kind of fish you want at Pikes Place...geez, what a waste of time...hehehe...<here come the flamers...come on boys, bring it on...hehehe>) We will be drinking, though.

well, I read the posts that Gene decided to quit on and I still did not see anything that bad, at least not to quit over. Maybe I missed the "tween" the lines... As far as I can tell, Mike and everyone else bent over backwards to please several of the former players and if they think they deserve some kind of special attention then I say stand in line and wait your turn. Just don't hold your breath... Most of them wouldn't look good in blue... disgust

Its one thing to just not show up like I did at BOC on a daily basis and quite another to make an announcement that you are leaving... almost sounds like someone looking for attention before they do themselves harm... Anyway, I still enjoy the fun and the jabs now and then and I just let it roll off my back like a duck in a rain storm... I consider them all friends and could care less if they visit this forum or not. That has nothing to do with being a friend (as far as I am concerned). I'll go to great lengths to help any of them out of a jam if it is in my power to do so.

As has been pointed out... life's too short.

Still new here and use the site as a place to hang out rather then watch tv when around the house ( or working) it is a great place to talk up the passion of boating and other occassional issues.
I seen the riffs in Boc and it looks bad. Too bad some folks still live in Jr High.
Mike , Cheers to ya :argh

some people didn't want a few of us to come here.....LF for one......me for another.....mike did bend over backwards to welcome us and has defended and even deleted alot of BS postings.....as well as he should....but some just didn't like the fact that some of us should come here and post "alot of garbage postings"....
when I first came here....I resisted mikes offers to come for quite some time cuz of some of the anemosity of others.....I lurked for a bit before joining in and read the sharp digs about me.......I even got confrontational emails on the side from some people.....aside from the snide remarks and digs.....this is a pretty fun place to visit....most of the folks I've met are nice and decent to talk to....but I came to talk about boats and adventures and have a few laughs......
...sorry to see some leave but these people are adults and should act as such.....they make thier own decisions and are free to go and come as they wish....what makes a good site is the diversity and opinions of the members being repected....I for one fought to the defense of LF...subsequently he was banned and that is the decision of the owner of this site....mike developed this site ..spent the time and effort to bring this site to fruition and has the right to run it the way he wants......so far he's used alot of restrain and wisdom in running it.....
so for those that come and go....it's your decision.....
