Leaking oil pan

Turns out it was not the front main seal but rather the oil pan gasket itself. The entire front portion of the oil pan had slipped out and was hanging down inside the pan. Also, the O ring, grommet thing that holds the dipstick in place had worked its way loose and down insde the oil pan as well.

Well at least you know what the problem is now and that it isn't a complete tear down. Shouldn't be a big deal to get these fixed. A final test on the stand may be a good idea given the motors history.

I guess better an oil pan gasket than a main seal. It should be easier to fix. I second the motion about running the motor on the stand for a good long time to prove itself worthy of being reinstalled.
