man...this has been a tough weekend to say the least...
but...I think I got everything done...yesterday got up and weedwacked the front yd..just in time to have 35 yds of mulch for 5 houses delivered...UFFDAH..mowed both the front and back yards.....then sometime during the day...our washer decided to puke on itself....it's 9 yrs old so it's outa here....bought a new one today.....had to run around and get some parts for the boat...ie oil filter and zincs....got the oil filter today and some absorbers....also went and got one of those oil suction tanks at harbor marine....I have the 6.2 ltr engine with the oil drain tube that comes out the butt plug...I've changed the oil a couple of times and it just drips out of the tube...so this new tank has a boot that seals itself to the drain tube...give it a few pumps and it starts pulling the oil right out of the oil pan...instead of going thru the dipstick tube...I get to drain it right out of the pan and hopefully get all the oil out of the engine......then I punched the filter and let that drain...twisted it off and spun the new one on.....then added Castrol syntech 20-50 and the engine runs great!!!...then I had to replace some of the zincs already...I just put a whole new set on this last march....I musta gotten into some serious hot docks at friday harbor and port orchard.....well...that should take care of that...what kinda stuff have you done to your boat this week???..... :D :argh

Well, my zincs were OK from the FH trip so maybe PO or I was not clase enough to your hot spot at FH?

Got a call from Darren Harle who also has a 2452. HE was up in SUsia and he could not get his boat started. He thought it was flooded. We went thru that and what to do. He waited overnight and stil no start. he had called towing the day before and had them stand by incase he could not get going. They called him today at 8AM and asked if he was underway... he said he needed them cause it still would not start.

I asked Darren the night before to check for spark. I did not think he'd hold on to it when someone turned over the engine. Needless to say, even though he did use an insulated plier, he still got hit hard. So we ruled out the coil and ignition system... Anyway, he got a tow from Susia to Annacortes from BoatUS. Had he not had the 'gold' unlimited tow option, it would have cost him around a grand according to the tow boat guy. He pulled a spark plug and found it just barely wet with fuel. I am not sure he took the flame arrestor off to see if the carb was getting fuel or not. So that would rule out a stuck float. It does turn over, just won't start...

ANyway... I just installed a second Scotty outlet plug on the stbd side but am waiting for the mounting plate to come in to finish the job. Will install that on 26 Jul when we return. I also cleaned the fishing area and buttoned it up until we return from the east coast in preparation for Neah Bay..

Mike, Same as before... pick you up at Kingston? Will let you know which day, 1st or 2nd of Aug... I should have internet most of the time I am on the "right" coast...

youse guys have fun... I know I will ... get to see my grandson, son, DIL, sister who just finished chemo and my dad... looking forward to a great trip. Even got a hook up (pun) to go fishing off Montauk Point, Long Island, NY...

Oh yeah, dropping of the fishing pole I learned with when I was a kid that my grandpa gave me and I am giving that to my grandson. It's a bit old and the foam handle is a bit collapsed but it still catches fish. The pole is over 50 years old... more a sentimental gesture then anything else...

Let's see: I just returned from a shake-down at Lake Powell, Utah. The Liqua Lube experiment on the trailer hubs is over. Three of the four leaking this trip, two taking on water. So, the trailer is on blocks; new bearings and seals all around, and back to grease and Bearing Buddies (actually "Reese" brand). Unloaded all the fresh water gear and replaced it with salt water gear for the trip to Neah Bay in twelve days (who's counting?). Looking forward to the salmon fishing (it sounds like the chinook are starting) and meeting Doug and "Some Sailor". :D

I replaced an old nylon antenna mount and old antenna with a new stainless one and a new antenna. Got a radio check and all is well. Sunday we went to Tacoma and filled up with 125 gallons of diesel, WOW I was low. Went to Des Moines and met up with a friend of ours for a few hours then off to home. Full fuel, full water and still hit 15.5 knots water was like glass we all watched in amazement as a eagle snatched a fish and flew about a foot off the water all the way to shore. What a day.

I did not do much, checked my oil levels after the big trip, checked battery water levels. Did same as Linedog and went over to Breakwater fuel dock and took on 335 gallons - thought it would be worse according to my gauges so I am happy with the boat performance and fuel usage for the 22 hours and the speed I was going. Went and visited the new Boating World in Federal Way. Thought it may be time to buy a new captains log book, scratch pad was getting full.
Spent some time cleaning up after the vacation from prior week, watched Coach Carter Sunday afternoon. Felt like being a couch potato.

Didn't get out this weekend. Friday night after work the skies looked grey and nasty and the forecast for Chelan was windy and rain.
Spent Saturday morning doing a lot of the same as Seapup and catching up on the bills and such.
Sat. afternoon was too nice to miss so caught happy hour at Anthony's Wood fire on the deck. Got a call from some friends who went Rock Cod fishing out of Westport (filled their coolers) so meet up at home spent the rest of the night enjoying the weather, telling lies about the fish we caught, and relaxing!
