The downside of being in a marina with a number of project boats and surrounded by boatyards ... the wind must have blown some kind of steel shavings onto the deck, they sat there, it rained and you guessed it. Yuck.

We washed down the deck and scrubbed in last night and some came up but not all. I am wondering what we can use to remove stains from fiberglass decks that can also be washed into the water (ecologically friendly).

I have a "Scumbuster" which has a rotating brush that I could use, but still not sure of the proper cleanser.

On/Off or any thing with Oxalic acid will remove the rust stains. You can apply with a cloth lightly soaked in it and let the cloth sit on the stains for a few minutes then wipe up with some fresh water. There should be no hazardous material going into the water that way...

I've seen Doug use the On/Off spray to remove the rust from the fiberglass on a boat. You could see the rust running off as the On/Off started to drip. Once rinsed off, you couldn't hardly tell there was ever any rust.

On/Off works in toilets when you use one of those flex steel snakes and it leaves metal marks all over the porcelain. Just turn off water to toilet, flush and add a cup of On/Off and let it sit for a few minutes. Use the toilet brush about a minute and all marks and anything else staining the toilet is gone..

I got some On/Off yesterday. It doesn't say anything except that it's for use on fiberglass hulls. I want to use it on my deck. The deck is fiberglass I am sure but it seems like it might have some kind of coating on it? Or is that just the 'glass itself because it's got that non-stick texture?

Worse case I'll try in an inconspicuous area I guess....

Can buy it at most marine places, even hardware stores.
