Well... I guess you guys didn't think much of it huh?
SO cool seeing places you used to live. I can spot places in Hawaii I lived at, and old dive spots... VERY cool. Even see the lava flows on the south side of the big island.
Or... read the numbers on the approach end of Baghdad International :)
Or check out Roel's place in the Netherlands...
Pretty beautiful place, our planet when you see it like this...

I can remember a time when even talking about them was a big no-no. Now Google buys images from them :)

Check out the Lincoln, and tilt the view. You get better imagery. Very cool pictures in the Bay Area as well. I guess with their HQ there.. they'd pay for the shots :)

Mike this is great! Now we can see where we boat in detail! You can see the Marina we are in and scroll down to see the neighbourhood where our house is situated. It's a pity I have to send my Laptop away for repair of the keybord but will also install it on the PC. But I wonder how old this is. In our situation I am missing a bridge near the Marina! :(

Yes, it is pretty amazing huh?
The data varies in age, but some is relatively new. I particularily like the way they meld the satellite data to to aerial photos. Nearly seemless in some areas. I've tried to catch some ships in two locations at the same time, but haven't yet. Anoter fun one we have seen once on TerraServer, but not on here yet is aircraft in flight. Really odd to see a plane caught in one of these pictures :)

Downloaded it on my laptop while cruzing by Elliott Bay today. For some reason it didn't load. I will try sorting it out tomorrow.
What a beautiful couple of days on the water. My Wife, brother/wife and daughter and friend all got pretty red sun bathing on the fore deck. Wow is that New Tacoma Narrows Bridge project ever something to see. Also there were at least three patrol vessels in front of the Carriers in Bremerton, must be still on pretty high alert. (you would have to be a real idiot) to try to get near any of that hardware.

Bremerton is particularly well guarded because of the nature of some of the work they do there. When dismantling a sub or ship, sometimes certain parts and machinery are exposed and vulnerable that normally were designed never to be seen by the public.
It's not just the boats cruising by, but planes and even satellites overhead are a big problem.
