1424It's never to early to pick up a Christmas present for our Admirals. My SIL found some neat boat fenders in the Skymall catalog. Can also get the fenders in the various armed services too. They are made for WSU and UW as well as other universities. Your Admiral will be speechless when she opens the big box and gazes at new shiney boat fenders. Priceless and definitely a Kodak moment.

Too Funny.
But not quite as bad as the time my buddy bought his wife a treadmill for her birthday. Ooops. He ended up taking it back.

I'm sure your buddy had best intentions when he bought his Admiral a treadmill for her birthday. It's a real expression of his love to show how concerned he was for his wife's well being. Boat fenders don't compare with a treadmill as a gift for the Admiral.
Now here's a way to really impress the Admiral. Purchase some WSU or UW boat fenders and have custom ear rings made to match the boat fenders, BUT have a 1/2 carot diamond implanted at the end of the tiny fender ear rings. I can guarantee that the admiral would be speechless or even start crying when she would see tiny boat fender ear rings custom made in her favorite university colors with a diamond. ;)

Randy, I am sure your suggestion does not meet the Admiral in the Cook households' requirement that any gift be shiny or sparkly... ;}

1. Yes, that was his take on it too. But his wife took a very different view, a very loud and unhappy one.
2. How true, any Admiral would be speechless, and yes one could also expect tears as well. I just wonder how long it would take to work my way out of the dog house if I were to offer such a thoughtfull gift. Probably the rest of my natural life! Which come to think of it would not be very long anyway.

One of the worst I have seen was my old boss. He has a beautiful wife and what does he buy her for your birthday but a book "French Women Don't Get Fat".
In my household that would be grounds for WWIII.

Hey Pat... your email has been hacked.
(unless you're selling Gucci shoes and bags on the side)

Pat---My Admiral purchased the CD "French women dont' get fat." I listened to it for about 10 minutes. What a bunch of horsesiht. American women don't have time to make a 5 course meal over a 3 hr period, and when we sit down for dinner (if we sit down as a family) we eat in 10 minutes and then we're off. After listening to the pucky, I had the feeling it was a great scam. Now if I purchased college boat fenders for her, she could enjoy the gentle nudge of the boat against a dock and show her college spirit.

I would have LOVED those boat fenders...however I have only just ordered six new (matching, of course) fenders which are now in transit. I chose the color that matches my docklines and interior upholstry. Of course. But...team fenders are COOL. My husband could have his WSU+Beaver fenders on the starboard side and I would have UW + Duck fenders on port. Oh well. I think we'll just go for flags instead, our mast is boring.
I've already asked for gift certificates to various boating stores for Christmas. Any bling I want, I buy myself anyway. :-)

Did you buy custom fender covers by chance? Reason I ask is I bought an embroidery machine from a kid last year that is in business doing custom fender covers.

Got that right. Unless you enjoy sleeping on the couch for long periods of time, not a good present.

No, I didn't buy fender covers at all. But now I know where to get my covers when I get some. Today, we have six fenders, all of which are different sizes and colors (thank goodness for Dunato's Second Wave). I found a place online that sells Taylor fenders for about 1/2 of what they cost at West Marine or other places I've checked, so I splurged because 5 of our fenders are too small and the 6th would be more appropriate for the Queen Mary.

Debbie, maybe the 6th fender is for the anchor? Is it a round orange one?

Debbie pass the link on if ya still have it for the taylor fenders. I need a few of the larger ones, just bought one off ebay I thought was black and turned out to be dark blue. Was a good deal for 45 bucks (included shipping ) just wrong color. Still looking ... I believe mine are 10x26, I like the ones with the hole thru the middle. I think HTM's for short.

Sorry I should have done that originally. It's Boatersland Marine at http://www.boatersland.com/. I got the Taylormade Big B 8x20 fenders in blue for about $36 each which was a good deal based on what I'd found elsewhere. I had previously thought I needed a 26" set but did a little digging and these should be ok for us. The 26" I have is ridiculously unwieldy and is often more in the way than not.
The downside on this place is that their delivery is UPS Ground which is slow, but I paid no sales tax.

Yup, them Taylor made big B HTM 10x26 is the best I have come across, have not looked at shipping cost yet but the price is 15 bucks below a local marine store .
No real deal on the Polyform brand, thats to bad since there made in Auburn or Kent, can't recall. I had bought a few fender adjusters at Roche Harbor marine, one went south on me and I emailed Polyform who replaced the item no questions asked within a few days.
I liked that.
Any hoot, thanks for the link.
