Well, I did enjoy going out looking for a few stripe bass but did not get anything except a nice sunburn. For those who know Long Island, went out to the sore thumb across from democrat point on Fire Island. Tide was a bit too much coming in. Used a 6 oz lead and that still did not hold bottom. Bait just drifted toward the beach. Overall, a great day of fishing verses catching...

TIme to go clubbing on the boardwalk and seeing what's going on during happy hour... (yes, Admiral is going with me)... and that is cool 8)

My dad sold his boat recently and gave me a whole tackle box of lures (all east coast style... you know, big fish tackle)... also got his outriggers (great for silvers and pink fishing) gotta UPS that stuff home since it weighs so much...

OK now I'm outta here...

I've gotta see your outriggers inaction. Never seen a pair out here. :)

Check out the jump button above... looks like the Silvers are en masse out at Seiku already.

Doug you're bring back so many memories- I've had my share of lobster like sun burns surf fishing on the outer banks of NC.
Some really great Pompano runs down there! :)

One time a few years ago, I was surf casting and had a flock of birds (several hundred) diving after bait on the surface right next to the shore line with blue fish coming from under the bait. Just threw in a bobbing plug and BANG, another blue. Very agressive fish and lots of fun to catch. I never caught a Pompano but have caught many Red fish off of Florida (Pensacola) surf casting. Excellent fish! I have had Pompano in restaurants and think that is a good tasting fish too.

What kind of outriggers ? How long are they ? I have a set of Great Lakes planer boards and was thinking of hooking them up when the silvers come in. Only problem is my "swath" would be 70 feet.

They are 18 feet and I forget the name of the brand currently. Will look when I get them home. They are packed up right now...
