I am hoping this is the last upgrade to our boat. Anything else will be maintenance replacement type.
We changed out the 12x9 Bennett trim tabs for the newer 12x12 drop fin trim tabs. It is suppose to get one on plane quicker, stay on plane at a lower rpm and help docking in that there would be more control and less wander at low speeds. Will find out this coming week...

Of course the swim step ladder was in the way so I had to move that (twice). Note to self, measure three times, cut once... You can see the new placement of the ladder has about one inch clearance from the extended trim tab...

Looks great Doug. I wish I knew you were moving up in size Doug. I want to do the same thing and I have similar dro; fins on mine now.
Don't forget your fishing gear when you head up. The silvers and pinks are in HEAVY on the south side near False Bay and Eagle Point. They were slaying them up there when we came by. It seemed every other boat had a net out.

I don't need no stinkin net... I just drag them through the door way or nail them with my fish gaff I got from GPS Powell. No one uses nets up in Ucluelet, they use a gaff that has about a 100* angle on it so if the fish is too small or not allowed, you can use the gaff to lift the hook and line and release the fish without bringing him into the boat (assuming you are using barbless hooks). Takes a bit if practice but we never lost a fish at the boat using the gaff...
Cool!!! I just loaded the pink gear and the silver gear is always on the boat... In fact I have a new rod and spin reel that is really smallish and I though pinks would be fun using that with them... its a cool spin reel. The release is a trigger you pull with your index finger as you cast and release the index finger to catch the line under the bail... Pretty innovative...
Thanks for the update. One of the days up there we plan to hit Snug Harbor Marina area and go out for some salmon on the way to Sydney and or Victoria...

They were sure thick up there. They were riffling all over the place. We saw piles of humpies that must've been in the thousands on the surface and lots of silvers in the air up near Snug.
Be careful with that gaff though. They're not allowed on US salmon. (Only halibut & tuna)

Nice tabs Doug.
When we were up in Sitka last summer the charter guide used a gaff exactly like you explained. He was good with it, never missed a fish.
I don't belive the part about this being your last mod. though. You gotta know something else will come out that you will just have to have.
