Discovery just launched cleanly....900mph is les than 1 minute , 3000 mph in just over 2 minutes, 17,000 mph in 8 minutes. Now that's getting "on plane" in a manly fashion. What an indescribable rush that must be. If I had the chance I'd go in an instant.

Just before I left for work this AM I watched Discovery separate from the external fuel tank. There was a new camera mounted on the tank that viewed the bottom of the shuttle and the struts that attached the fuel tank. It was really neat to see the separation and firing of the shuttles thrusters to move away from the tank. It would be a real hoot to hitch a ride. I think I'd spend most of my time enjoying the view.
