This isn't about boats or a joke - so I'm putting it in "below the waterline".
I just finished serving as a juror on a civil trial for the last 4 days in Snohomish Superior Court. I know we don't hear much good news from the justice system, but this was a really good experience. There was a large cross section of folks serving on the jury with me - anywhere from early twenties to late seventies and from all walks of life. To a person, each followed the court's instructions and employed logic over emotion. Each took their service seriously. We reasoned and debated difficult topics with gravity but in a respectful manner.
Tonight as I reflect on this experience, I am immensely proud of my community, our state, and our constitution.
