There was a thread recently about cooking crab. I seem to remember someone on one of these boating forums saying they grilled crab. If anyone has done this I would love to know how it works and if they have any advice. It is a pain to boil water in my cramped little boat, but using the Magna grill is not a hassle. Last time I boiled crab in the cabin my wife made me promise to never do it again!

Women, can't figure them out- a guy gets in the galley and they want ya to leave.
Not sure about grillin em , but those propane boilers can be bought on sale with a big pot for under 50 bucks at many locations.

Almost got skunked yesterday crabbing. We caught about 30 90% females or undersized. Just a couple of keepers. A couple of weeks previous (opening day) at the same spot about 60% were legal. Anyway, fortunately I brought some ribs along to bar-b-q on the Magma grill so we didn't starve. Just to check it out I placed the legs of one crab on the grill set on low and they cooked in about 6-7 minutes. Tasted great. My theory is that the water inside steamed them before it all cooked out. Maybe not the best way to cook crab but a lot easier than boiling water on my little boat.
Lay on or two on its back on a sheet of Aluminum foil. Bend up the corners, add a bit of wine or beer (1/2) cup. Tighten up the foil over them and lay on the grill. When the liquid starts to steam, leave them for 15 minutes grilling.
Crack off the back, sip the yummy nectar. Toss in ice water bath for
2-3 munutes. Clean and eat.

We went crabbin in Anacortes on vacation, lots-o-crab, just 6" ers though. Missy ended up with 7 legals, one 7"s, from 18 ft using a ring. Ed used 3 traps at 70 feet around the corner from us. Got 6 legals , took an hour more and boy was he outta breath !!!
Missy cooked her crab in a couple of sauce pans on a 110v hotplate. We don't have a real stove on the boat. 1 1/2 crab in the big pot and 1/2 crab in the little pot. Just a touch of rock salt in the water. She forgot to bring the SS crab cooker....sad end to the story though. She contracted a bad sinus infection, we had to get her into a clinic in Anacortes for anti-biotics. She couldn't taste the crab after all her efforts !!

Tried grilling crab today. It was just OK. I may have over cooked it a bit, but it got pretty dry. Followed that experiment with our favorite method- steaming in salt water! No contest!
Crabbing was OK at Hunter Bay. Lot's of small ones...
