I'm not sure how many of you guys fish for salmon in the rivers, but if you do, you know those salmon egss (especially the Pinks) are worth gold later this year.

I usually cure my eggs in hot pink or fire red flourescent cure made by Pro Cure. I was just speaking to a guy who runs a drift boat charter / guide service on the upper Snoqualamie / Skykomish Rivers and he gave me this great tip:

Cure your eggs like normal, but instead of keeping them in jars, cut them into hook-sized portions, but leave just the smallest part of the skein intact. Then vacuum bag them with a portion of salt sprinkled around them. They will still freeze, but the individual portions don't become this big galatenous mess when you thaw them and they're ready to mount on a hook and off ya go. They fit easily in a chest bag and will be easy to open and use on the rivers edge.

In case you've never fished the rivers with eggs, it's amazing how many fish you can hook in a morning up there. I usually hit the Wallace and Skykomish in the early weeks of October and have a blast. Easy to get some nice fish and get spooled by some big ones every once in awhile :)
