View Full Version : Wanted - Teak Railing
This weekend the Admiral lifted our dinghy out of the water (on Weaver davits) a bit too hard. The dinghy seat smacked the flagpole socket that was bolted on top of the teak rail. The socket came off, taking with it a huge chunk of wood.
Bottom line, I need to replace the teak top rail on the transom of my boat. Does anybody have a piece of teak or teak railing, like those used in 80s Bayliners? It's about 4" X 1 1/4" with a semi-circular cross section on top. I need 3-4 feet.

Gene might! Call him.
Been there done that. Its an easy piece to make if you have some woodworking tools. The stick of wood will be pricey but a couple hours and you will have a new part.
I have heard that lumber liquidators has had teak from time to time and the price has been awesome compared to compton lumber (where I ended up to get the sticks I needed)

Home builders hardware in Seattle carries a nice assortment and also has scrap pieces you can pick up for a price, Or they can cut what you need.

Hey Raul, you want all three? Including the stainless supports, chains etc? How about the fold down seat? I forgot to ask when we spoke.

Guess it's time to tell the Admiral you need a new boat!!! Too much brightwork :P

The seat on mine is in good shape but I'l take whatever you want to get rid of. If anything, I'll store what I don't use in my shed and wait for the next IBNW person that needs it.
Thanks!

What condition is your seat in BK? Ours is soaked and missing one of the supports. Might be interested if NR doesn't take it.

Hi Sean, I dropped off that seat at Rauls Moondance today and it is structurally sound. Sounded like you could get it as Raul indicated his was good. I have the supports! you can have them both. Email me! I always keep my ice chest where the bench went and as it doubles as a seat, I can give up the stuff. The swim step is taken up with another ice chest to carry snorkeling gear and spare stuff so my ice chest has nowhere else to reside. Anybody know someone with a pair of B-3 duoprops for sale? Mine are so thin from getting reworked so many times that they may be compromised soon. I found this out when I got a new set of B-5s which were so much thicker I was amazed. The 5s were too much prop for my boat when fully loaded, although they did result in a 30 mph speed at 3500 rpm when it finally got on a plane much to the relief of the motor.
Sean,
You can have the seat since mine in in good shape.

Cool...I'll take it once i am able to lift more than just my arms. :) Doctor hasn't ok'd me to lift more than 15lbs as of yet. Hopefully soon.
BK...i will take the supports off your hands.
Sean,
My wife works in Lynwood. Whenever you are ready for it, she can take the seat to work for you to pick up.
BK, I you drop off the supports I'll get them to Sean with the seat.

Moondance was gone today so I put the seat supports with the stuff thats near your boat , Raul. Sure was calm last night at high slack in the river and p.o.e.. Really cool just to idle along in the dark and take in the lights etc. Spent the night at Jetty Island. Got the jetboat put together, ready to get a different kind of boatride next weekend! :blob6: The 468 chev made 514 hp at 5800 rpm on the dyno, 518 ft lbs of torque at 4200 rpms. Boat without engine weighs 775 lbs. Yee Haw. Hang on to the "Oh ****h" bar on the dash and enjoy!
We got back today and I found them. Thanks!
Raul
