changing registration numbers

How do you get the painted reg number off? We have tried oven cleaner, paint thinner and WD40. We can't take the boat out without our numbers on and it is driving my husband crazy. :argh

Acetone will work on must paints.

Just pick up some Jabsco paint stripper gel. It is safe for fiberglass and gelcoat and will make short work of any paint. It will bubble and peel right off.

I had to remove a painted name on my 39 from the transom and both sides of upper super structure- it was a bitch. I did what SS said and also used a wet sand method which seemed to work best. I used the thinner for a good deal of the time, and wet sanded last- the boat turned out really good. But my arms did not fair that well.
