well..we made it back ...it was snotty coming home too......saturday we met up with a couple that just purchased a brand new 2455...helped him get familiar with the systems....the friggin sales puke didn't bother to show him anything about the boat....water systems....hot water....sanitation......or even how to turn lights on.....poor couple were completely in the dark for thier first cruise.....I got them going at least and hopefully their first nite was somewhat enjoyable.....his name is Russell....I hope he makes a showing here.....they have this adorable little daughter........she's a sweety....
they came in and the wife almost went into the drink when they were trying to dock........so we helped them dock and get power for the nite....
we left early cuz the weather reports sounded ugly..........sure enough once we made it out agat pass it got really ugly....really snotty .....took us a couple hrs of rough water to get home...............it was fun though.....very nice to be on the boat ...crappy weather or not....hope everyone had a great weekend....:-ar

Steve, I know how much you hate sales people, but would you please refrain from calling them names. Comments like "friggin sales puke" is just not cool here on this site. And so you will know they now call the Bayliner 2455 a 245. Ted

Ted...I've known and met some wonderful sales people....I've met some terrible sales pukes.....I don't mind sales people that are professional, courteous and are willing to go the extra mile....after all...when I spend 70k on an item...I expect that sort of treatment....but when I meet up with someone that buys a 245 or 2455...or whatever...for over 50k and gets 1) taken to the cleaners and doesn't even get shown the basic systems before he's thrown out the door.....then in my opinion....he's a sales puke....I didn't name names....I didn't point fingers...so don't take things so personal.........everything is not about you....... :argh arrr

There are a lot of guys when they find out that their deal of the century turned out not to be that good they always blame it on the sales even those who didn't get a fair change. But as always it's just one side of the story but it takes two to tango! And I think Ted is just right that he feels offended! If I were you I would be a little more sceptical about what others tell you.

Steverino,

Didn't get to spend the weekend on the boat but I did take some of my employees and their spoused out for a ride and out for breakfast. No rough water here in Tacoma...no wind and smooth seas.

Had 4 of my managers and their spouses, 9 of us total. Left Day Island cruised under the bridge, around Pt. Defiance and into Tacoma Yacht Club. We all had a great brunch with Mimosa's all around.

Everyone was happy all the way around. I figure they'll either steal me blind (Hey, look at the Boss's boat, he won't miss the money) or they will appreciate the gesture and work harder for the company. I trust the latter will occur. I believe in people and their good nature.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us and it was very nice of you to help that young couple figure out their boat systems. We'll meet up again on the water one of these days.

I got your point....so what if your a moderator....doesn't mean that what I said was offensive to a particular individual...I stated a personal observation...now if I called you that phrase....I would expect a dressing down...but 1)I am not attacking
2) not backing my statement down when I refer to someone that doesn't do thier jobs properly......
3) I'm not a 2 yr old that needs dressing down by you or anyone else....
this poor guy didn't know how to turn on lights or operate the head....didn't have water....now...to me ...that's the fault of the salesman......
my opinion was never mentioned of a particular carrier path...so don't put words in my thread that wasn't specifically written by me....I don't infer anything and will tell you or anyone else my thoughts or how I feel.....do we understand each other??...if not...I can make it verbal or in an email more succintly :argh arrr

Thanks...that was really great of you to take the families out on a boating trip and all.....bosses that usually do that have an appreciation of their people and an ounce of honey will go farther than a pound of vinegar..good on ya....
hope to see everyone out on the water this yr...... :argh arrr

With respect to all parties, I think a lot of the responsibility falls upon the boater to ask, ask, ask. The salesman doesn't know what the boater doesn't know. It's not his job to turn a newbie into a boater in one hour. It would take forever to go over every single system on a new boat for someone who has no clue. IMHO a person that clueless should not endanger his family by going out into snotty weather, knowing full well that he is inexperienced.

I had a hubby & wife on my boat a couple weeks ago. They wanted to buy a 305 and thought they'd ask a few Q's about the model. Well it quickly became evident that this guy was going for a Darwin Award. He told me he was so clueless about mechanical stuff that he couldn't point out a carburetor's location on an engine. And he wanted to buy a 305 and "go boating" like he saw in the magazines. I said 1) take a boating course 2) take a basic mechanical course, then 3) buy a boat. In that order.

Anyway, back to my point. As a responsible boat owner, a newbie needs to know that training is needed to operate a boat. I'm not sure it's the salesman that should provide that training.

I see what your saying and agree.....however..this gent had had another boat that he traded in...of course I didn't mention that in my thread cuz I was just making a statement of his experience....to get into the meat of it...he traded his other boat in and at about 4pm..they hooked the boat trailer up to his truck and he towed it home...the sales guy didn't go over the boat or systems....so...the poor folks were tossed out of the lot so to speak and they were sitting there with all the manuals trying to figure out how to operate the boat....they went from a 20ft cuddy to a 245.......so...imo....and from my experience with olympic boats in everett..the sales guy came out and showed me how most of things worked...then what he didn't have the technical know how to answer ..he arranged for the service mgr to come out and show me all of the systems and answer my dumb questions on system ops. and what to watch for.....all I'm saying is in my humble opinion....the sales guy should have at least turned the service rep loose on them to show them how to operate the systems.....end of comment.... :argh ar

while we were watching this huge fountain "go fast" boat come in, marsha and I and the 2 dogs were talking with this other boater when in from nowhere...this bald eagle musta spied this huge fish floating or lazily swimming about 6 ft from the dock......it dropped down and snatched this fish right out of the water !!!!!........then in all the comotion, all these stupid seachickens otherwise known as seagulls started chasing this poor eagle with his catch..........amazing....
before that we went to dinner at jj's by the sea.....an amazing thing happened then too....I was watching outside as we were waiting for our order, when I saw this explosion of feathers...this hawk came out of the sky and nailed a pidgeon in mid air.....port orchard was really active with wildlife......way cool.... :argh arr

Steve,
At least in all the commotion, those other flying
creatures did not get the "Skinny Pink Chicken" ....

We've got Bald Eagles up this way Al... they'd make quick work of a flamingo I suspect :)

They play hell with the Great Egrets as it is...
