Reports are that there are still coho being taken in good numbers in the Sekiu area. There are good quantities of silvers in the rivers, as there has been some good success in the Snohomish and the Sky river systems. Are we going to see any decent fishing in the coming two weeks? I know good fishermen who are going out and coming back empty handed after 6 hrs effort. Then there are days when all is well and the fish are biting decent again.(Yeah I know "Thats fishing") I'm interested in hearing some theory from you fishheads. Whats up?

I try to keep the most recent Holiday Market fishing report online. Check the pull-down box on the main screen of IBNW where it says "extra stuff"

It's usually the most comprehensive report going (and fairly honest)

They're KILLING the silvers in the Snohomish right now. I took a picture of my neighbor and a buddy holding a shovel handle at each end with 16 silvers strung up. Each was over 10 pounds. They've been limiting every day.

One of my kids went to Sekui last Thur-Sun (22-25 Sep) and limited out Thur and Fri only. Sat and Sun they had two fish each day on the boat among 4 poles. Sat they fished from 8-7PM and Sun they fished from 8 to noon and drove home.

Just saw a 150 qt cooler full of chrome bright silvers that came off Snohomish just off the 520 bridge... they're slaughtering them this year. I'll bet that group of guys had 25 fish in there.

Gotta be on the saltwater for me for some reason. The singing of the line on the downrigger, the excitement of seeing the line release with the bite of a salmon, the ice chest of cold beer nearby....... the eelgrass fouling your line, the solo guy in the boat next to you, or worse, oncoming  , that is working his gear while his boat turns ninety degrees into your path, and lets not forget the occasional dogfish.....Where IS a good spot to fish the river... :) ???

Depends on what you want to fish. There are lots of great spots around here. I fish the Stilliguamish at both Sylvana and off I-5 and the Snohomish just north of town and up in Monroe. Further up, the Wallace at the confluence of the Skykomish and Wallace. Also up near the hatchery is amazing fishing. Some MONSTER fish up there. :D

Some of my best luck has been with two sticks of 40 percent nitro with a b.c. and about two feet of Det. Cord with a one foot fuse and a pull fuse lighter... in about three feet of water. Just catch the fish as they come back down! :evil4:

Mike, before you tell me- I know you don't need the Det cord, but it sounded good. Real story, though. It was ALL GOOD until the Snohomish County Sheriff drove onto the bridge as we were watching the bubbles streaming off the fuse. It was the Pilchuck, in 1979, and he said "you guys cant fish off the bridge" ( not noticing we had no poles) to which we said YES, you're right SIR!!! We were just LEAVING !!!:cya: He drove off, around the railroad bridge, and the old unstable dynamite went off, sending a ring of water just like a smoke ring about 100 feet above the railing of the bridge. The depth went from 3 feet to 6 ft and the sound was so muffled from the water, the sheriff never came back. Its amazing we live to adulthood, which in my case, is almost accomplished. Now I know that old, sweating, sticks of dynamite are very unstable, so when I pierced the side of one of the two sticks with my car key to insert the blasting cap, I was lucky that it didn't go BOOM. We were awfully bored as teenagers growing up in a town of only 5500 people. I'm all better now though.....P.S. My buddy, who had no knowledge that I had the explosives until I brought them out and just thought we were going to look at some fish, "Thanked me" profusely for the wonderful experience he had just had. Normal heart rate-60to 80 BPM. Heart rate when your dip**** buddy pulls out the old dynamite 100-130 BPM. Sheriff joining the fun 160-200 BPM>>You get the picture.

OK, reminds me of the time I went blast fishing off my dad's wooden boat when I was about 16... Two buddies and me went out into the bay, found a likely place to blast fish and using a Styrofoam cup, a couple of sinkers and a blasting cap, threw it overboard only to watch it float about 3 feet under the boat before it went off. Needless to say, we had to beach the boat on the sandbar and I quickly filled the areas between the planks with new cotton caulk and some kind of tar or pitch we used when I did the entire boat before the summer while it was at the house. Dad never did find out about the damage and my heart rate was also very high for quite a while...
