Since it is raining and it looks like rain the next two weeks, I thought we'd get a jump on figuring out what day we would like to join up for the boat show coming up 13-22 Jan...

Besides, it makes me feel like I am doing something boating related...

So, I'll post a poll and see what dates are TENTATIVELY best for the majority...

here is the link for the show:

http://www.seattleboatshow.com/

Oh yeah, if these dates are not good, just post what date is and I'll up date this first post as needed.

So, I guess we need to have this as a sticky... ss???

My work schedule is changing, not for the best for my wife and I and our boating life. i used to have every weekend off. i will now be working 4 -12 hour days, then have 4 days off- So this means if i work Mon thru Thur, I will be off fri-thru Mon- but then I will be working tue thru fri- so on and so on. What it boils down to is around 3 weekends off in a row every other month. Nice to have all the time off for projects but terrible on our boating life and social life- at this time I have no idea on the time off around boat show, but more then likely if I go it will be during the mid week where I can avoid crowds and spend time with some motor head Vendors. I should get a calendar of my new schedule, which just started yesterday in the near future which will allow me to see my days off through out the year. i have a rough one made up for the next two months.
so what this means is I will now be working 6 months out of the year, but add in my 5 weeks vacation and that take me down to just under 5 months out of the year.
Now if I only had enough money for my wife to retire, we could enjoy those 4 days off on the boat every week.

Well heres hopin' that this works out to be the weekend of the 13th cause thats when I'm coming up....and that could be good news or not considering every time I have had this tailgate on my radar my aim to attend has been thwarted: ....One year all the local bad boys get kicked out of the parking garage and another year there were ice storms that set me back a day leaving Portland, another just did not work out ....so will this be the year to say hello?

only time will tell.....hell I don't know if I even still own a boat

EDIT: not into the seahawks so am wondering if they have a chance at a championship run....it seems the boat show would start a week early if so...

We need to lock down a weekend... I say the Saturday the 7th.

The 14th may not happen if the SeaHawks continue their good fortune.

Tickets are on sale now: SEATTLE BOAT SHOW (http://www.seattleboatshow.com/)

and if you buy them online... you get a free subscription to SEA Magazine. (Great rag btw)

Anybody heard from Spud? What's the status on the tailgater possibilities at OE?

I just sent you an email Mike. I can make the call to Mike and Dave at Outdoor Emporium to ask for some space again. I however, will be flying to China once again from the 5th to the 17th :(

Let me know, I would be happy to set it up.

Thanks Nelson;

That was a great location and fun spending money in there as well. (Got a great deal on a floatation vest)

Already purchased a Flex pass for $18,as was in the past it includes 1 day parking.

Iam planning on this year spending a couple days at the show (I will likely go mid week as well, although I might consider coming up on Saturday the 7th (if we have the tailgater and then going back to the boat in Oly to spend the night (return on sunday the 8th?

I have never had time to make the floating show and would like to snoop around some of the larger boats and spend more time at the venders booths.

I am hoping that we have a little better weather then what we are having now?

as a NOTE: I didn't see that this year they were offering "SEA" magazine, but instead the other "advertizing rags" As for me I look forward to sea magazine as it is probably the best NW magazine out there by far!

Spud, we will miss ya, be safe in 'China Town'
Brad, Let me know when your schedule firms up and perhaps we can hook up mid week if the weekends are out?

Gene, and other south sound boaters, we might consider meeting in Oly and pooling up if it works out?

I modified your original post Doug. It looks like the 7th is the best date, but would like to see how many will be making it, so I added that date.

If those coming would add their dates, we'll have an idea of who's gonna be where and when...

I will be there on the 7th if that is the date.

Thanks,

I'll see ya all again on the 7th.

Is it the same location as last year...that worked out great.

What kinda "stuff" are we needing.
I will bring a "Pop up canopy" and whatever else we may need....just let me know. Do we need to start a "what I will bring list" ?

Tim (the other Tim who now has a little fishing boat)

Sounds like the 7th it is.

Spud is gonna clear the parking lot for us... but Outdoor Emporium sounds like the place. Maybe I can spend some more money in there this year too. :)

We'll let Doug update his list when he gets home.

I may need to make some chowder or stew of something to warm the bones. I think Spud will be in China this year. :(

Dang....I'll miss it again!

I am coming up on the 12th and staying for the 13th then home that afternoon/evening.....anyone else on that schedule? Maybe there could be an impromptu burger fest on the 12th

anyway...keep an eye out ...I'm the tall guy with glasses 8)

I will be boating on the 7th guys so will have to meet ya at a later date. My weekends off are far and few between at this point and my wife and I are making the best of it.
I am off work in 2 hours then going to the boat and will be heading to Poulsbo Friday morning for the weekend, not sure where we will end up next weekend ( the 7th) but probably a closer destination.
I made some boater happy and cancelled my reservations at Bell harbor for the 31st. I just am not that fond of the place.

We have our smallest sailer with us this weekend , our lovely Ayva- she is four and is much fun to have around.

If I make the show at all it will be during a weekday and will stop in and introduce myself Ted.
It looks like my only choice would be the 9th or 10th, but at this point I have to have a point to go and I am still trying to figure that one out.
I sure as heck am not boat shopping, I have most everything I need on a boat -but ya know how that goes. Ya always want something more.
I have found that i enjoy the boats afloat show and looking at many of the used larger motor yachts- so that may be an option. Maybe just to see if one year later I still feel ok about our purchase of the Navigator.
Hope you all have a safe and Happy New Year.
Brad

Looks like we're cleared to use the OE Parking lot again. Spud sweet-talked us some prime real estate. Will probably try to start showing up at around 9:00. Maybe get some brats burned and eaten before we all swagger over to the boat show to bother Ted. :)

As of now,

I am planning on working on the boat/spending Friday night in Oly, and driving up to Seattle on Saturday morning. I will be at OE 8:30ish.

What do you need me to bring? I want to spend as much time as I can at the show/venders and maybe get to the lake this year (hard to do all in one day)

I have to be back in vancouver by 6pm so It will be a short trip.

I can push my shedule to the left a bit. I think Tim is bringing a pop-up cover and we can get the grill fired up and get ya over to the show. I haven't done the Lake show either. Maybe I could tag along. Bob will be at Bell Harbor, so we'll be over shortly after I pick him up.

Doug;

You wanna update the thread header for who's bringing what and who's coming Saturday morning?

Well, I cannot attend due to conflicts with sports and NJROTC. You all have a great time... I'm going on Friday PM...

Here is the gouge from Mike Campbell, President of NW Marine Trade Ass. about when the show closes:

We still do not know when the show will close for sure. We are scheduled to run through 6:00 PM on Saturday January 14 but we might have to close one day early. Here's the situation: If the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeat the Washington Redskins this Saturday, then the Seahawks home playoff game will be scheduled for Sunday, January 15. If the Redskins win, then the Seahawks game will be scheduled for Saturday, January 14... forcing us to close the show early on Friday, January 13. We'll be watching the outcome of that game closely and as soon as we know if the show needs to close early, we'll send all of our e-ticket buyers an e-mail and post the information on our website.

Well... we're all set for Saturday a.m. then (January 7th). I'll start a new thread update for any changes since Doug's not gonna be making it.

Keep an eye there for any updates and changes.
