yeah..it only cost 140 bucks for the dish and reciever plus all the mounting hardware....then it's 5 bucks a month for the service.....so for that kinda money...it might be worth making it portable or something.......

anytime wednesday would work for me.....I have all day......so whatever is good for you...let me know...give me a call

I already have them on my house...they gave us 4 recievers for 4 rooms and a dish for free...free instl...then for something like 60 bucks a mo. to get all the channels we wanted.......now for the added boat system...they added 5 bucks a month for the same channel line up.......not bad...over 150 channels to watch and complain about......

well..bob(webjammin) and mike(somesailor) met me at the boat today to install the sat. dish...mike welded a few tangs to hang the mount on the bow rail and then we tried to follow the directions of dish network's ...boy..that didn't work..but the dish is on and we can at least go from there with a service tech...obviously we're missing something in the instructions cuz it won't lock up and download the software....
so.....wednesday I have the tech coming out to the boat.....
thanks for the assist mike and bob..... :argh arrr

04-17-2005, 06:48 PM
Yeah... lemme know when he's done, I'll grab that clamp bracket back and rebuild it on an angle for ya.

Seapuppy
04-20-2005, 05:22 PM
Well..finally got it fixed....we were pointing it in the wrong direction...it's supposed to go to 10 deg. to port of 180S......got a signal strength of 125db.....I had the guy come out there and he did some magic stuff to the antenna and then I have both lbnf's working now...
this weekend we're gonna try it at port ludlow and then I'll get that clamp to you....thanks again for the help ....greatly appreciated...... :argh arrr

04-20-2005, 05:37 PM
Cool... did he add that splitter (switch or whatever) you needed so you can get both feeds working? I'm curious how it goes. We'll get that bracket fixed for ya.

mike...the sat dish worked great.....the mount could be modified by hack sawing that one tang off.......instead of building a whole new mount....
but thanks for the work you did on it for me.....once I got the dish point at alkazira sat....I was able to turn the dish about 20-30 deg. to the east and badabing...the signal locked right up.....it was great watching tv when the sun went down......thanks again..... :argh arr

Sounds great Steve... just remember not to cruise past Sub Base Bangor with that fire control dish of yours pointed that way. They've already got you number there. I think the second time they pull you over, they shoot first. :D

Quick question on the info here: do I understand that passing Bangor with a Sat dish pointed a certain way can get you an interview with the security folks? What other innocent mistakes can we make in these areas...? (besides getting too close)

( I noticed that the subject line I put in looks more like a Thai menu item than a subject)

Neah... just giving Steve a hard time. He was running short on time coming down to Pleasant Harbor one weekend with us all and skirted the outside boundaries of their exclusion zone (which is back to its pre-911 area now) and they intercepted him. Easy mistake to make back then if you come under the Hood Canal Bridge on the east passage and don't start getting to the west pretty quickly. The funniest part is that Steve is all about subs (he used to build 'em) and he's the one who got pulled over. No harm, no foul... except he had to sell his boat and buy a new one... and now boat's under an assumed identity... but it's all good.

Here on the East Coast, about 60 miles from here, is the Groton Navy Sub Base.
I'll bet they have a pix of Seapuppy and his boat & also keep track of him ....

Way back in the day I know people who would see how far into the zone they could get before they got chased out-- but that was more boat racing fun than anything.... now a days you get delayed from your destination doing that sort of thing.

Entering a restricted Gov't zone in some areas can get you blown out
of the water ....
Cross the yellow line barrier on the lake near the Hoover Dam ....
http://www.websmileys.com/sm/violent/sterb032.gif They will take NO chances .... bunkers up on the hills, both sides of the dam

I was at mare Island navship yd a number of yrs ago...standing on the deck of the USS Lajolla....this blowboater was tacking back and forth into the security zone....the watch stander kept yelling at the guy...he was pulling his 45 acp out of the holster yelling at the guy when he tacked away and noticed that the sailor was about to put a bunch of holes in his pretty little sailboat.......about 30 minutes later the coasties had the guy tied up to their nice 40 ftr giving him a ticket to the navy brig ball!!!...I actually thought this sailor was going to shoot!!!....there was this huge sign on the seawall stating deadly force is authorized...... :argh arr

Puppy Chow,

Some people think it is a joke, that nobody would shoot near or at them.
But they better wake up and realize that especially after 9/11, going near,
or into a restricted waterway, could be a hazard to their health.

Like I stated above, they are extreamly protective of Hoover Dam ....
Deadly force is authorized, and they won't wait for you to say that you
did not know you had to stay on the oher side of the 1st set of warning
barriers, let alone the second set.

Cross the 1st one, you'll get warning shots, cross the second one, they
will blow you out of the water before you can get 50 yards over it.
Their sights are locked on you once get near that first set of warning
barriers, and they will protect that dam at any cost ....
