Well, I sent the vets day speech to my dad who has Webtv (now MSNtv). He tried to print it out but got a security screen that stated that since the speech contains possible sensitive military information that my dad will not be able to print it out. In addition, MSNtv has decided to ban dad from certain military sites. They sent him an email to that effect. Unlike most other internet providers, MSNtv does not allow you to control who has access to some sites (IE. child protection from possible bad sites) but I believe this is a bit over the top. Here is a blog on what is happening now. Very weird...

I went to the MSNtv site to see if it is possible to change your safe selection settings but could not find it. Web TV provides a lame Anti-spam policy but there is no further indication or explaination that Web TV is censoring net access for it's clients. People probably are left scratching their heads when mail never appears or various sites are inexplicably unaccessible.

Anyone else know about this at all?

I think this is just a tip of an iceburg. Most network news is a joke...nothing of any real importance...talking heads, weather, recipes, gossip and crime.."if it bleeds it leads" journalism. Right and Left talk radio Wow! what are you going to believe?

Some things that have interested me in looking at this:
Out Foxed ( a film/ documentary on the Murdock empire)
The Corporation (a documentary on the rise in power of the modern multi-national corp.)
Lexus and the Olive Tree, Wm Friedman (book on globalization)
LINK tv and FSTV both stations on the Dish Network admitedly leaning toward the left but so is the documentary Bushes Brain (the Carl Rove story) Check em out.....I can't go by much they say but listen to Rush, Savage, Lars just to see the other side....how about you guys try Ed Schultz, Randi Rhodes, Al Franken or Bill Maher

This is not intended to incite a popcorn eating brawl...its a given that most of you are to my right but in my opinion we are all heading down a very slippery slope in regards to our right to information about the world we live in. When someone calls the removal of environmental controls the "clear skys initiative" or the clear cutting of forests the "healthy forests act" we all have a problem. We (our government) offer huge tax savings (in many cases "free" SUVs) for the buyer of these gas guzzlers, and higher taxes and reg fees on hybrids ..."they use less gas....so must pay more in another way" This is nuts.and very shortsighted.

OK. I'm ready Kill me!

I sure as hell ain't goin' to start shooting in your direction. The Constitutional
rights of US citizens are being eroded more rapidly now than in the past
20 years. And I thought that it was bad 20 years ago!! I voted for Bush for
a number of reasons but the environmental policies that have come out of
his admistration are setting us back to the dark ages.
The only way the Adm. and I can get any real news is from Canadian radio
(comes in better from Victoria than any Seattle station anyway), BBC on
TV and BBC on line. There are a couple of other on line.
I've come to dislike party classifications. The Repubs are looking like the
Dems and visa versa. The big money hidden agenda guys (like George
Soros) are trying to put America into a UN run socialist state. And now on
tonights TV there is the proposal to make all of us, no matter where we live,
contribute to a "country wide" disaster fund that would pay for the natural
disasters like the recent hurricanes. I don't think so bobo!!

Off the soap box,
Pete
