We, Harry the sales and his father in law talked about what to do about the carpet on the floor of our boats. Real teak would probably nicest but also a lot maintenance to keep it beautiful. Harry talked to the firm who makes the teak floors and swim steps on Bayliners here in the Marina for guys that want them. He came with a alternative and made an offer and this is what I got and they will get for euro 240!

When we went to the boat last Saturday and to our surprise we found out that the job was done! :D
They didn't clean their shoes very well as you can see on the second picture by the dark areas on the steps and Carpet. I cleaned it to day and looks like new again! So who cares? ;)

Roel, that is on my list of priorities this winter as well. What was the product they used if it was not teak? Did you have to pull the carpet yourself and sand down/smooth the area for the flooring or was that part of the job?
BTW, it looks awesome in the photos...

That's beautifu Roel! I always thought a teak and holley sole would be a nice touch. Looks as though they did a wonderful job too. I'll bet it's much easier to keep clean as well.

Doug,
They or he did every thing, first measured every thing, pulled the carpet out and glued the floor in with a water proof glue. one day when I went to the boat I saw the bare wooden floor but I missed the guy so didn't speak him. My boat was the first of three and Harry the sales has acted in the behave of us. Saturday Harry and Pieter the owner of the marina came looking when I told them it was finished and we all agreed that it was done very nice. Pieter sold an older 2855 some slips away from me and came up yesterday and asked if the new owner could see the floor and so another one is ordered! :D I think the material is what Brad says a waterproof plywood with teak design. It's the same material Bayliner uses today in the Ciera line but they don't have the total floor covered. I heard that he broke the first floor as under the cabinet of the galley the floor is also covered but the small wall there isn't right angled so the material has to be bended a little there. The guy told Harry that as the floor it totally sealed in you can put 5 cm or 2" of water on the floor and nothing can happen!. :D

That is a very nice job Roel. I'd bet you couldn't buy the materials and do it yourself for that sort of money. Sounds like you got quite the bargain.

Mike you are right, even if they had asked it in reverse, 420 would have done the job with me! :D
At the moment I have another project to handle. We discovered not only the stuff we discovered so far went south but also the door phone and intercom died. Went to my favorite electricity shop two weeks ago. The brands they sell, isn't the cheap crap you have to buy in the bigger DIY super markets, but is of a far better design and so is their pricing. A couple of years ago I discovered that gem, with elder people who know exactly what they are talking about, except one youngster, who thinks he knew all but didn't.
This time I had the luck to ran into him again although I didn't recognize him at first sight. As they are resellers of the same brand we have, things should be very easy and they also had the stuff in different configurations on a show panel. When asking what the price for my configuration was he said the phone will be 126 euro, the small door bell he showed me was 160 euro. The 160 euro did the trick and I left. At home I spent a whole week on searching the net for this kind of stuff but finally I decided that I had to bite the sour apple (as we say over here) and buy the stuff . In a sudden flash of brilliance I thought I would ask them a pricing for my configuration by phone first. I spoke to one of the elder guys at the phone and he said total configuration included a transformer, that went south also, 160 euro for the whole set up. In the shop they showed me a very nice set up and as I need just one entrance unit it 's 115 euro only! If I don't burn down the house during installation and if I finish it before my camera goes south, I will show you some pictures! Other wise look at EBay I will ship world wide!
