Greetings from the East Coast,

I am a new member here, so for those who do not know me, I
will give you a little background.

First, I would like to say that I realize that there was a little to do
about letting me join, ( I did read that post ) and I can assure the
membership that I come here NOT to make problems with anyone
here.

My e-mail is open 24/7 to anyone who has a question or has other
reasons to contact me: lazyflamingo@att.net

I was invited to join some time ago, but during that time period, my
wife and I were not around much due to our extensive travels.

I am a member also of the BOC, just as are most the members here,
and yes, I have had some differences there. BUT as I see it, those
problems were yesterday, and today is a new day.

I have befriended good people from this group, and I have met some
of the members personally.

My name is Al, and the wife is Mary ....
I am retired, (2002) owning 2 retail businesses for just under 30 years.
I am a member of the Shriners, (25 years) Scottish bagpipe band.
I have sponsored 6 children into the Shriners Hospitals.
Mary is retired, (1999) Vice President - Bank of Boston - 34 years.

Many know me as: "The Lazy Flamingo", or as one of your members
( Seapuppy ) coined the phrase: "The Skinny Pink Chicken"
"Lazy Flamingo" is the name of our new boat.

We spend time between MA anf FL, and travel through Europe a couple
times a year, as well as Las Vegas, New Orleans, Sanibel & Key West.

I starting boating since the late 50's with my dad, and continued in 1969
after returning from Vietnam. I served in the Marine Corps, NOT drafted.

I have always, as did my dad, have antique mahogany boats with outboards.
Recently, I purchased a 2005 195 Bayliner, and am now looking to purchase
another for Florida.

I joined these forums, because I will need help with these new boats since
fiberglass and I/O's are new to me.

Will I be in your area ? More than likely, because we are starting to travel for
4/5 day weekends furthur west, plus I have been checking into something on
Catalina Island.

In closing, I am here to make friends, NOT make problems ......

Sounds great Al... glad to have ya...

You've taken a big step in posting like that and telling everyone more about you. As you've probably noticed... we're a bit more tight-knit group here than on BOC. We've all shared the docks with most everyone on here at one time or another and all share the fortune to live amongst the greatest boating opportunities the world has to offer. But most importantly, we're all friends here.

Again... we all know about the problems on BOC. That atmosphere is the reason this board started (IMO), and we don't want any of that foolishness over here. We talk about boats, we argue about politics and generally just BS and keep up with each other.

You should really think about coming up this way sometime. We've got a big shin-dig cruise planned for the 4th of July at Friday Harbor (San Juans) and theres plenty of hotel space.

Welcome aboard... :)

Or as Steve would say... :argh

Hi Al,

I was against you joining IBNW based on BOC issues but since it was decided to invite you to join, allow me to extend a hand of welcome to the site. I hope we grow to be friends and meet up on the water sometime.

Al, second chances are a good thing. I was one of the original founders of this board. It was largely started because a group of friends were tired of the BS on BOC in the old days. Stratocaster has done a good job of keeping it civil. It has gotten ugly recently though... So welcome aboard , let's look forward to future outings ! Gene

Welcome and play nice...

Has anyone noticed that Mr. puppy is on his way to dominating input on the board? I think he is going for a new posting record.

SS...may I point out to any "newbies" that the anything (almost) goes part of this board is "below the waterline"

and Steve btw boeing is an airplane company: they go up into the sky....not into the briney deep keep this in mind at your new job.... :joker:

sounds like the kind of gig you could just send a virtual Mr. puppy in and just do the work from Friday Harbor....(then again maybe they would in turn send a virtual paycheck....)

BTW I'm up early because it's my turn to feed the sea lions again.

Thank you for the welcome, it is appreciated. I will sooner or later
get out that way, and hopefully when I do, I will be able to meet up
with some of the members.

Note:
Once Seapuppy gets situated at his new (old job renewed) job, and
gets the use of the corporate jet, maybe he will send it to pick me up.
